Our role is to undertake real estate development projects that contribute to the economic, social and physical growth and well being of the City. The beneficiaries of the activities of the SCDC are the residents and business owners in Surrey

The Corporation’s objectives include generating financial returns for the City of Surrey, undertaking projects that will help achieve the City’s social community, environmental and economic objectives, and acting as a catalyst to implement the City’s vision for strategic areas of the City. SCDC pursues these objectives by undertaking real estate development, investment and management throughout the City, either on its own or in partnership with others.

Surrey City Development Corporation is 100% owned by the City of Surrey and has been incorporated since 2007.

What We Do

Surrey City Development Corporation exists to:

  • Undertake projects that will help achieve the City of Surrey’s social community, environmental and economic objectives
  • Act as a catalyst to implement the City’s vision for strategic areas of the City
  • Accelerate business related development to the City
  • Act as a catalyst to create market interest in the business areas of the City
  • Maximize the return on surplus City-owned land through development, rental income and/or capital appreciation
  • Generate an annual revenue stream to the City of Surrey from profits realized through capital appreciation, lease and/or property management revenues
  • Generate an annual revenue stream to the City from the property tax base created through business activities
  • Recommend strategic land acquisition in support of the City’s vision for redeveloping areas of the City of Surrey
  • Manage properties in a professional, ethical and conflict free manner ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practices
  • Provide consulting advice and real estate management services to the City
